Summary: 

High level of independence and ability to handle a larger scope of work involved in producing or modifying machines that produce product parts for garage doors. Can address complex electrical issues in voltages ranging from 24v (ad & dc) to 480 vac both main power and control wiring, in both machine cabinets and electrical service panels.  Plans layout, installs/repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, manufacturing machinery, and control equipment.  Works in conjunction with Safety to ensure compliance with all electrical standards and OSHA requirements are met.  Prepared to handle emergency situations at short notice.



Responsibilities:
  • Plans new or modifies installations throughout our site to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsafe, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Prepares sketches and drawings (in AutoCAD) showing building location of wiring and equipment for machines including cabinet wiring drawings.
  • Follows schematic diagrams or blueprints for construction or modification of control cabinets.
  • Provides modification drawings to engineers and maintenance of necessary electrical modifications.
  • Works safely and within regulations relative to energized panels and high energy fields.
  • Operates a scissor lift or forklift for completion of electrical work.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus’ such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels
  • Connects power cables to equipment, such as motors, drives, cabinets with grounding leads etc.
  • Tests circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments.
  • Assesses the functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Diagnoses problems and repairs faulty equipment or systems in both manufacturing environment and office environment.
  • Troubleshoots circuits that have 24v (ac or dc) to 480 vac with concerns or malfunctions.
  • Capable of leading project work involving complex electrical work.
  • Other facility maintenance duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

Education and Experience: 
  • Journeyman/Master electrician with commercial and industrial experience.
  • Designing and troubleshooting of control circuit wiring.
  • Ability to follow and design control circuit wiring.
  • Experience wiring machines.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and local regulations.
  • Ability to run conduit from ½” to 2” or larger.
  • Work on machine control wiring both 110 vac and 24 AC/DC.
  • Willing to work on electrical circuits of machines.
Nice-to-Haves:
  • Master Electrician
  • Minimum of five years’ commercial/industrial experience
  • Thorough knowledge of amps, voltage, and circuit breakers as they relate to manufacturing operations
  • AutoCAD electrical drawing experience
