Assistant Production Manager

Summary:       
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Production Manager to oversee and optimize our manufacturing operations at a fast-paced garage door manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will lead daily production activities, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery while managing a team of supervisors, operators, and support staff.

Essential Duties:
  • Plan, coordinate, and control the manufacturing process to ensure efficient production of garage doors and related components.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust resources to meet customer demand and minimize downtime.
  • Lead and mentor production teams to foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Work with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues and implement process improvements.
  • Track and analyze KPIs such as throughput, scrap, labor efficiency, and on-time delivery to drive performance.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and material usage records.
  • Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and other process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in budgeting, cost control, and forecasting production needs.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and coordinate with Maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and assist with workforce planning and development.

Competencies Required:
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role; experience in building materials or garage door manufacturing is a plus.
  • Proven track record of managing production teams and delivering results.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing best practices, including Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and production planning tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on production environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position manages processes, procedures and direct reports assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Work Environment:
  • Primarily works on the production floor with some office work.
  • May require extended hours or weekend work during peak production periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
Travel:
This position requires no travel.
